9/27/2016 1 Comment Carved wooden birds by John BennettBeginning with a single piece of wood, John Bennett starts with a handsaw and a flexible shaft carving tool, then machine and hand sands to create a finished sculpture. Redwood burl, myrtle, maple, and walnut, some colored with dyes, are used in his work. After sealing and hand polishing, the carving is mounted on driftwood or a manzanita burl. Each piece is signed and the bird and wood species are identified on the bottom. Come see his work at the Upstairs Art Gallery.
